ABOUT US...
The Organization is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as defined under IRC Section 501(c)(3). The goal of the Organization is to create a quality educational experience for the members of the community and visitors alike, as well as showcase and support local nonprofit organizations at the same time.
Our mission is to give back to the wonderful communities who have supported our events over the years. We will keep our donations local and aim to better the lives of others.
Central Virginia boasts large wineries and breweries that have been producing distinct wines and craft brews for years. In fact, America’s oldest wine grape was born in Virginia. However, many Americans are unaware of this fact, unaware of how wine and craft beer is produced and unaware of the many factors that influence the flavor of wine and brews including weather and soil quality. The Organization will create festivals that will recognize, educate, celebrate and share with the public the production of wine and craft beer from the Central Virginia region. Interactive booths and displays will showcase the various techniques used to create different beverages, as well as instruct the public on different wine regions and how various factors impact taste. Wine taste testing will be available to highlight the differences with a hands-on approach. The overall goal is to educate and create an awareness and appreciation for the distinct wine created in this region through educational demonstrations throughout the festival. Participants will have gained knowledge as to what goes into producing wines from this region, the different varieties of wines and grapes produced, how they are produced and the reason for the differences in taste. After attending the festival, they will come away with a better appreciation of the Virginia wine region and a better understanding of why Virginia wines are on par with wines produced in California and Europe.
Additionally, the Organization intends to educate and enrich residents and visitors of the Lynchburg, Virginia region to a rich variety of art and music, exposing them to a variety of art, craft, concerts and performances. Artists and crafters will have booths set up detailing each of their crafts and give a live instructional tutorial on how the craft is made. Artists will also perform in live concerts. These concerts will give talented young musicians in the area who are at the cusp of the professional career a chance to perform while also giving audiences with limited opportunities the chance to experience the arts. The Organization would like to ultimately establish the region as a cultural tourist destination that supports local talent and gives them an opportunity to showcase their work.
The Organization hopes to create a venue where local nonprofits can showcase their services to let the local residents know about assistance and programs if needed. Local nonprofit organizations will have booths set up and can use the festivals to conduct outreach and give information about the programs they provide and the mission they serve. Nonprofits can use the venue as an educational resource for outreach to the community. The festivals will also be used as a vehicle to raise funds so that the Organization can make grants to local nonprofits that help support residents of the community. The Board of Directors will determine which nonprofits to distribute grants to. These nonprofits do not necessarily need to ones that wanted a platform to perform outreach; however, financial grants will only be granted to nonprofits are located within the county and that provide services to assist residents within the county.
